Handmade Christmas Creche
Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament
Sr. Gabriel O’Regan (left) and Sr. Raphael O’Connell (right), driven by a desire to create meaningful gifts for the community, established a craft store at the Incarnate Word motherhouse in the late 1970s. In 1985, renovations at the motherhouse and Academy presented an exciting opportunity: the installation of a kiln significantly enhanced their creative possibilities.
One year, the Sisters expressed their appreciation for their employees with a unique Christmas gift. They meticulously handcrafted an 18-piece nativity set, each piece lovingly handpainted by the Sisters themselves. This thoughtful and personal gift undoubtedly brought joy to those who received it.
