The Women Religious Archives Collaborative (WRAC) seeks qualified candidates who are aligned with our mission to preserve and share the legacy of Catholic sisters. WRAC is a Catholic nonprofit organization located in Cleveland, Ohio. WRAC is seeking two Processing Archivists to join WRAC’s archives team. The Processing Archivist will collaborate with the Lead Archivist to develop processing plans for collections. This includes determining the level of granularity for processing, ensuring appropriate housing of materials, writing DACS (Describing Archives: a Content Standard) compliant finding aids using ArchivesSpace, participating in digitization projects, supporting digital and in-person exhibits, and providing basic reference services. WRAC is seeking a Digital Archivist to join WRAC’s archives team. The Digital Archivist is responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive digital records management program for WRAC’s partner congregations and monasteries. This includes developing policies and procedures for the preservation and transfer of born-digital and digitized materials, establishing workflows for arranging and describing digital collections, and integrating these processes with traditional paper-based collections. Reporting to the Lead Archivist, the Digital Archivist will work with partner institutions to identify digital records creators, oversee the transfer of born-digital files, and manage the processing of digital and hybrid format collections while serving as a resource for the archives, researchers, and WRAC leadership. WRAC is seeking students currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a graduate program in Library Science or Archival Studies to assist with the processing of archives collections throughout Ohio. This is an on-site immersive work experience in appraising, organizing, and describing archival collections. As part of a team, students will travel to a congregation in Ohio to work for 3-5 consecutive days to assess and prepare collections to be relocated to our facility in Cleveland. This experience offers a unique opportunity to learn hands-on skills in archival practices, contribute to the preservation of valuable historical records, and network with other professionals.
